Training courses to be validated during the PhD program
The PhD student must validate during the thesis :
- 1 training course on ethics in research (mandatory for all PhD students)
- 40 hours of training in professional skills divided into 2 courses of at least 20 hours each OR into one modula of at least 20 hours and two courses of at least 10 hours
Registration to the training courses offered by the University of Lyon is done online via the ADUM application. The first PhD students to register will be able to select the courses of their choice, the others will be assigned to other courses if the courses they wish to follow are fully booked.

The attendance certificates of the training course are requested by EDISS when submitting the PhD defense file.

Every year, CIRC offers 3 days ethics course held in November-December (registration in October).

EXEMPTIONS
Exemptions for professional with salary
Partial exemption : 20 hours of professional training instead of 40 hours are required in the following cases :
- PhD student with teaching activities
- ATER position
- CIFRE
- International joint PhD
- Validation of course on animal experimentation of research ethics is part of the course
Total exemption: for PhD students working part-time on their PhD thesis due to professional activities related to their PhD thesis. They may nevertheless follow training courses if they wish.
